ENGINEERING DNA

Ed Greasley, the Grandson of Cecil Greasley, founder of Newland Engineering, has been working at Newland’s on and off for the past 8 years.
Son of John Greasley and nephew of Hugh Greasley, engineering is in the family blood. Ed’s father John was former Sales & Marketing Director & Ed’s uncle Hugh was former Managing & Technical Director of Newland Engineering; both well known & highly respected throughout the materials handling industry.
Having recently finished his degree in Aircraft Maintenance and gaining an impressive 2.1 he has decided to continue working at Newlands until March 2015 & then to take some time off travelling around the world with his friends. Ed initially started on work experience in 2006 during school holidays & 2008 during college holidays.
In 2012 he started part time whilst studying for his degree. Working on the shop floor in the fitting & fabrication sections he gained valuable experience in the build of the various telescopic belt conveyors within Newland’s machine model range.
In 2014 he has successfully worked (full-time) on projects within the company to improve efficiency in machine production & techniques.
For the last 6 months Ed has been working in the drawing office with Newland’s Technical Manager Mark Lees.
Mark commented: ‘’Ed has been an asset in the drawing office and he will be sorely missed when he leaves in March of next year’’.
Mrs Lynn Kerfoot MBE. Managing Director of Newland Engineering adds:
‘’Ed has fitted in very well with all the staff at Newlands, learning the different discipline’s from machine design to manufacture. He has a great personality & is liked by all staff members. Joining in with the engineering staff on the ‘Real Ale Christmas Train Run’ last year’’
